On-Site Offices

Our NYC offices are located at 275 Madison Avenue, a short distance from NYC subways lines and commuter rails.

This is an art deco, NYC landmark building which is modern and bright with sweeping views of the NYC skyline and rivers. There are private offices, partitioned workstations for independent work, and a large conference room with virtual technology for collaboration and team meetings.

COVID Safety

The safety and well-being of our employees are a top priority for us.

Our building follows NYC and NYS COVID cleaning protocols, and we provide PPE for our employees working in the office. We will be limiting the number of employees we have in the office at a given time to maximize safety. Additionally, we have recently installed six-foot glass partitions between our workstations to enhance separation and social distancing for our legal support staff. Our private restrooms are designated for employees only.

Associate Attorney Position

Riemer Hess LLC seeks a Disability Claims Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of federal litigation experience and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) experience to join our A++ boutique legal team in the heart of midtown Manhattan. NY Bar is required.

Riemer Hess is a niche, well-established law firm working in the fields of long-term disability, health care, and life insurance claims under ERISA and New York law. We offer concierge, high-end services to guide and protect our clients – most of whom are professionals and executives – through some of the most stressful times of their lives. For more than 30 years, we’ve taken pride in making a difference in the lives of our disabled clients each and every day. We currently have a growing team of 4 attorneys, 4 paralegals, and 3 legal assistants.

As part of our team, you will be responsible for a docket of disability claims, appeals, and benefit monitoring. You also will be responsible for providing litigation support in an active docket of litigations in the SDNY. In this role, you will be supervising a team of paralegals and legal assistants. You also will have the opportunity to interact with clients while providing legal advice, guidance, and setting/managing client expectations.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of federal litigation and/or SSDI experience. Must be admitted to practice in New York.
  • Experience with persuasive writing.
  • Experience managing client relations.
  • Experience managing paralegals and support staff.
  • Compassion, patience, and the ability to give clear advice.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and career aspirations.
  • Strong computer skills. We have state-of-the-art systems and a paperless office.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills to support interactions with clients, potential clients, doctor’s offices, and insurance companies.
  • Familiarity with medical records, medical/psychological terminology and insurance company practices helpful.

We are looking for someone who is: highly proactive in completing assigned work and winning our client’s claims; an effective communicator, with strong written and verbal communications skills; and able to work efficiently under pressure with attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Salary: $110,000 to 130,000+ commensurate with experience

Remote Work

All of our employees are primarily working from their homes (at least on a partial basis). Our attorneys are always welcome to commute into our modern NYC offices on a hybrid model. Attorneys are expected and required to attend in-person any scheduled court appearances and occasional other in-person meetings, most of which are located in NYC.
